International conference on Newah (Newar) cultural heritage: Continuity and change within and outside Nepal will take place in London between September 6 and 13, 2025. 

The conference is an initiative of Pasa Puchah Guthi UK

HaP Prinicipal Investigator Dr. Stefanie Lotter has been a central supporter of the initiative as part of the organizing committee. 

The conference will hold a keynote address by Prof. Robin Coningham, Chair of Durham University’s Early Medieval Archaeology and of  UNESCO’s 2014 Chair on archaeological ethics and practice in cultural heritage. Six additional panels are planned around the subject: Religious practices as heritage; contributions to Nepali culture; music and performative arts; documentation and research; language, literature, and script; and politics of heritage.
